This page explains how to delete your account in Beau - Dog Companion by Dakota Labs LLC, and the data that goes with it. You can do it in the app, or by email if you can no longer sign in.
In the app (immediate)
Open Settings, scroll to Account, tap Delete Account and type DELETE to confirm. Your account is deleted straight away and the app signs you out. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
What is deleted
- Your sign-in account: your account identifier, email address, name and your signed-in sessions.
- The dogs you added to Beau, even in a family you share, with all of their care logs (walks, meals, potty breaks, sleep, training, milestones), weights and heights, health records, medications and doses, and symptom history.
- The photos and PDFs attached to those health records, which are removed from file storage too.
- Your Beau Plus status on our servers.
- Your family memberships.
What happens to a family
- A family only you belong to is deleted in full: the family, its invites, and every dog in it with all of that dog's records.
- A family you share stays with its other members. You are removed from it, and the dogs you added are deleted with your account, so check with your family first if they rely on those records. If you are the family's owner, the app lets you choose the new owner before you delete; if you skip that step, ownership passes to another member (a member before a sitter, the longest-standing first). Invitations you sent or accepted stay as part of the family's history, with your email address and account removed from them.
Deleting the app from your phone removes the data stored on the device.
If you cannot sign in
Email [email protected] from the email address on your Beau account, with the subject "Delete my Beau account". If you signed in with Apple and chose to hide your email, your account is under the private relay address Apple created for Beau (it ends in @privaterelay.appleid.com): send us that address, which you can find in your Apple ID settings under Sign in with Apple. We delete the account and the same data as the in-app option within 30 days, and confirm by replying to your email.
What we keep
- Purchase records. Records of Beau Plus purchases are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, with the link to your account removed.
- Safety log entries. The safety log behind the Symptom Triage Wizard's urgency check is anonymized rather than deleted: we keep only the verdict, the matched keywords, the action taken, the triage engine version and the time, none of which identifies you or your dog. It is kept for security and abuse prevention, as our Privacy Policy describes.
- Invitations you never accepted. An invitation someone sent to your email address that you never accepted keeps that address until it expires or the sender withdraws it.
- Backups. Backups that contain deleted data are rotated out within 90 days.
Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel a Beau Plus subscription. Apple and Google bill it, not Dakota Labs, so cancel it with them, before or after you delete your account:
- iPhone: Cancel a subscription from Apple
- Android: Cancel a subscription on Google Play
